SSD Benefits

There is no question that Solid State Drives (SSDs) are gaining popularity for use in laptops, desktop PCs, and servers. You can add speed to an old desktop PC or laptop by upgrading to an SSD from a hard disk drive (HDD), and with their speed and reliability, SSDs are an excellent choice for new PC builds, servers, and system builders.

An SSD is a storage medium that, unlike an HDD, uses non-volatile (flash) memory to hold and access data. In other words, there are no moving mechanical parts, and this makes a very big difference.

These are just a few of the many benefits that SSDs have compared to spinning disk hard drives. Among other things, SSDs can greatly enhance the performance of your system with a simple upgrade. Here are five benefits that upgrading your computer to an SSD can provide.

There are five main benefits of installing an SSD in your PC, Laptop

1.SSDs are Faster than Hard Drives

SSDs are up to a hundred times faster than HDDs. SSDs offers shorter boot times for your computer, more immediate data transfer, and higher bandwidth. Faster speeds mean SSDs can handle data at the ultra-speeds necessary in today’s business world especially when running programs that access large amounts of data such as an operating system. Also, SSDs are very stable assuring stored data is secure.

  • SATA SSD: HDDs were only able to achieve 50-120 MB/s in write performance. In comparison, SSDs saturate the SATA bus at 550 MB/s. Despite bus limitation, it’s common to see an overall system performance improvement of 10-15 times when using SATA-based SSDs in place of legacy HDD technology.
  • NVMe SSD: NVMe technology utilizes the PCIe bus, instead of the SATA bus, to unlock enormous bandwidth potential for storage devices. PCIe 4.0 (the current version) offers up to 32 lanes and can, in theory, transfer data up to 64,000MB/s compared to the 600MB/s specification limit of SATA III.

 2.Less Weight and No Noise

Its smaller size allows SSDs to weigh less than the larger HDDs with their magnetic heads and metallic disks. Their compact design makes SSDs perfect for laptops, tablets, and other small electronic devices. The absence of moving parts also makes SSDs infinitely quieter than HDDs whose noise and vibrations can be very distracting.

3. Power and Energy Efficient

Since an SSD has no moving parts, they need less power to operate compared to an HDD with a magnetic spinning disk. Energy efficiency is a big benefit in using an SSD when it comes to PC and mobile devices where battery longevity is a highly marketable and asked-for feature.

4. More Practical Sizes/Form Factors

Since their release, HDDs have been limited by their larger sizes. SSDs, on the other hand, are available in a variety of sizes; the smallest being the size of a stick of gum to 2.5″ form factor.

These are the most common SSD form factors:

  • 2.5″ form factor is the most common; offers the best value per GB; enclosed design
  • mSATA has a very small form factor; different connection type; bare circuit board; excellent where space is of concern
  • M.2 is a bare circuit board; available in both SATA and PCIe NVMe; small form factor; the size of a stick of gum

How to check your RAM compatibility

Hi

Every one needs speed and performance in the laptop or PC but we are not aware about what Ram to buy for the laptop or PC . You need to follow the following steps to identify the correct technology and capacity .

Firstly : Check the laptop model number. Google down in the search bar as : dell 3542 ram upgrade ” , there you will be able to find some link which will tell you the capacity and technology supported . Check the dell website first and reconfirm with other websites so that you are well confirmed about both the things.

Secondly : You can also verify the details by service tag number . You can use this service tag number to use it on the Brand official website and check the upgradation section.

Thirdly : For lenovo laptop you need to check the “model data sheet” through google..

Fourth : For Asus you need to check the official website of India .

Fifth : If you wish to know about the details of the laptop, download any freeware software like cpu z, install and run. You may know the exact model or part number of RAM already installed in your laptop. Search for the same part number as it will match the technology and cas latency which are main things to match for the upgradation.

For PC Upgradation : Check the manual of the motherboard and CPU details from the official websites. It gives the complete information for the motherboard max upgradation and the max capacity the motherboard can hold. If the manual of the motherboard is not available , check the bios , find the model number or download cpuz software, check the motherboard details and there you will get the complete details of the motherboard. Check the max suppporting technology of motherboard and the CPU. Go with the correct technology and capacity and enjoy the performance.

Why the frequency of my laptop reduces ?

Hi

It has been found in recent discussions with some buyers that they are facing the problem of reduction of frequency from 3200Mhz to 2666Mhz or from 2933Mhz to 2666Mhz , even when the laptop maximum support is 2933Mhz or 3200Mhz .

Here is the explanation to the above query.

Case -1

First of all one should understand that same frequency may have different Cas latency. For example : A 3200Mhz memory may have Cas latency 20 or 21 or 22. Higher the Cas latency lower is the performance. This Cas latency makes the difference in prices , apart from capacity. One should choose the low Cas latency memory module in ‘pair’ for better performance

Now when the preinstalled memory has a Cas latency of 22 and we are upgrading with memory module having Cas latency 20 , we will not get the working Cas latency in laptop as 20 but it will be fluctuating from 22-21-20, But if you buy a memory module having Cas latency as 17 to pair with 20 , than it will work at 19 and not at 17 .

The Cas latency 19 refers to DDR4 2666Mhz

Case -2

If the preinstalled memory is 8GB DDR4 2933Mhz having Cas latency of 20 and you upgrade with a memory of 16Gb DDR4 2933 having Cas latency 17 , still the laptop speed will downgrade to Cas latency 19 , i.e. 2666Mhz . Even the capacity factor will not help in upgrading the speed as the capaxity is just just a virtual storage with the memory and it does not impact the speed until the response rate is low(Cas latency)

Suggestion:

When ever you upgrade your PC or a Laptop always try that you pair with similar Cas latency (Brands can vary) . You will get a perfect and better performance in same Cas latency (say 22-22 ,17-17,21-21, 20-20) even if the CL is high but in pair then in unequal Cas latency(22-17 or 22-20 ) memory module.

Always to choose the same CL memory module.

Happy buying

Computer RAM Glossary

How to know the Capacity of a memory Module ?

Total number of available data memory cells on a module or RAM expressed in Gigabytes (GB) is the capacity of that Memory Module . For kits, listed capacity is the combined capacity of all modules in the kit. Higher capacity refers to the higher data stored on module.

What is CAS Latency ?

A standard, predetermined number of clock cycles for data read/writes to or from the memory modules and the memory controller. Once the data read/write command and the row/column addresses are loaded, CAS Latency represents the wait time until the data is ready. The lower the CAS Latency , the better the perormance of that module

What is DDR4 ?

DDR (Double Data Rate) Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (SDRAM) It is fourth-generation memory technology, more commonly referred to as “DDR4 or PC4 .” DDR4 memory modules are not backward compatible with any previous generations of DDR SDRAM due to lower voltage (1.2V),Like the DDR4 will not be compatible to the DDR3 technology due to different pin configurations and incompatible memory chip technology.

What is DIMM Type , how to know it ?

UDIMM (non-ECC Unbuffered Dual In-Line Memory Module) is a long form-factor memory module with a data width of x64, most commonly used in desktop systems where error correction is not required and DIMM capacity is restricted. It refers to the desktop Memory Module

SODIMM (Small Outline Dual In-Line Memory Module) is a reduced form-factor memory module intended for smaller compute systems, such as laptops, micro servers, printers or routers. Refers to the laptop Memory Module.

Kit

A part number that includes multiple memory modules, typically in support of dual, triple, or quad channel memory architecture. For example, K2 = 2 DIMMs in the package to equal the total capacity. Like HX429S17IB2K2/16 refers to the kit of 2

How to check the Speed or Frequency

The data rate or effective clock speed that a memory module supports, measured in MHz (MegaHertz) or MT/s (Megatransfers per second). The higher the speed, the more data can be transferred per second. Like a 3200Mhz means that the data transfer rate is at a speed of 3200MT/second.

What is Latency Timing

The information below will help illustrate the various settings that can be adjusted when setting the memory timings in the motherboard BIOS for optimum performance. Please note that these settings may vary depending on motherboard make/model or BIOS firmware version.

Sample

15CL – 17tRCD – 17tRP/tRCP – 20tRA/tRD/tRAS

CAS Latency (CL): Delay between activation of a row and the reading of that row.

RAS to CAS or RAS to Column Delay (tRCD): Activates the row

Row Precharge Delay or RAS Precharge Delay (tRP/tRCP): Deactivates the row

Row Active Delay or RAS Active Delay or time to ready): Number of clock cycles between activation/deactivation of row.

Ram Upgrade for Laptop

Hi

Choosing a perfect memory for your laptop, PC can be slightly tricky . Let us take up a laptop RAM upgrade .

Here are a few things that needs to be taken care while selecting the perfect memory

First we need to know the model number of the laptop. Check its manual , if the manual is not available , google the model number and check the specification. For example your laptop is Hp 15-XXXtx model . You need to Google “Hp 15 -XXXtx Ram upgrade , you will be able to see number of website with the information but select only the Hp authorised website , it will give you the correct information. In the specification chart you will be able to find the technology , frequency and capacity details with number of slots . According to the Hp 15, the laptop is DDR3L compatible in generation 4 processors , and it can be upgraded upto 16GB . It has 2 SO-Dimm slots . Every slots can be upgraded with 8Gb and 8GB . So the RAM required for Hp 15 laptop will 8GB DDR3L 1600Mhz per slot .

Now if you wish to use the existing the RAM also, you need to know the Cas latency of the present RAM.As matching of same Cas latency will give a better performance then the not matching it.

Download a CPU-Z software , Install and Run it. A pop will appear on the screen giving all details about your laptop. Check the memory details. There you can see the Cas latency of the present RAM. Like in the Hp 15 laptop DDR3L , the Cas latency should be 11. Check the same CAS latency RAM for your laptop and buy. For your reference we have uploaded the details. Here the CL9Cas latency ) is 11. 0 clocks

If you buy the same capcity RAM (that your laptop holds) then search for the same part number. If you are not aware , again check the cpu z software , check the part number details in SPD section . Copy it and google, you will get the correct part number RAM. and then you can buy it. For your reference check the snapshot f the SPD details from the CPUZ software . Check the part number, company , capacity and slot, technology etc.

Our store offers all the RAM upgrade support like choosing you the correct part number RAM. Choosing the correct RAM may boosts your laptop as per your wish.

Hope this knowledge helps.

Best Gaming RAM for Desktop PC

Hello

When we wish to create or buy a gaming PC. First thing to keep in mind is the motherboard, processor, Graphic Card ,RAM and power supply

We should buy a motherboard with max support of processor generation wise and capacity, should have support of the graphic card and max suppport of XMP modules.

Here we will talk mainly on XMP RAM modules. The XMP means the Extreme Memory profile. Here in these modules, there are two profiles. Profile means, the settings which the manufacturer has provided (especially) for the gamers.

Profile 1 is the setting which the manufacture has provided in normal mode (which is usually mentioned on the box), like the RAM on theyogistores.in

This 32Gb 3200mhz has two profiles or you can say settings , check here :

XMP Profile #1: DDR4-3200 CL20-22-22 @1.2V
XMP Profile #2: DDR4-2933 CL17-19-19 @1.2V

This module will work on 2933Mhz as well as on 3200Mhz . The Cas latency will adjust as per the Mhz the RAM is working thereoff.

We should always choose the xmp modules as per the motherboard. First check the motherboard model number, google it , open the manual, go to specifications, check memory supported .

Choose the Megahertz memory which you desire , check the memory with low cas latency as there may be a case where the frequency is 3200Mhz ( for example ) but the cas latency may be higher. Always choose the RAM with low cas latency so that its response time is low , hence better performance.

Check opening graphic application like adobe photo shop, corel draw, HD movie, Architectural and designer application- like Autocad. The time taken to open up will make you understand the reason for buying the low cas latency RAM.

In earlier days , we have observed that the a DDR3 performs better then DDR4 , that is because the CL is lower in DDR3 but since the transfer rate is low then DDR4, hence is out of race.

Happy buying
